My name is Kellea and I am an artist. That has been a hard sentence for me to state for many years. I have been composing pictures for family, commissions and community all my life; but this is the beginning of the journey to push the pencil for myself.
I am an American military brat that has grown up all around the world. I now live in Australia after falling in love with a native. He has pushed me with this new found courage to put myself out to the world.
I work at a service station (servo) with a very encouraging boss. He allows me to sell my photo cards and now my prints of drawings here. Customers began asking for copies after watching me compose them while they shopped. Now commissions are forthcoming, cards are selling and the local art shop has asked me to be the monthly feature artist for their window in January 2011. I'm so excited to keep developing the journey.
My lastest finished commission is Charlie. He is a three year old yellow lab trained for Autistic children. Labs N Life trained him and he now lives with my girlfriend in South Australia.
Belle is my biggest fan, and asked me to do this piece for the company since they have helped her so much in acquiring Charlie. I used Bristol paper with a variety of Derwent pencil grades building up layers for the desired effects.
I will be posting several different drawings over the next few weeks to give a more rounded sense of the nature taking course in my studio. I will be working on my writing skills as well. Thanks for stopping by for a peek.
